Courses
Below is a list of our RYA Tidal courses
together with some information regarding their content and suitability.
If you have any questions regarding these courses please feel free
to call us. We have a flexible approach to our courses and will
always try our best to meet your specific training requirements.
We also provide own boat tuition for many of these courses.
Our Practical courses will have a maximum of five students per course
to allow plenty of hands on experience for everyone. We schedule
our courses to allow "follow on" packages where for example
you could follow up a day skipper with a VHF course, or even combine
the practical courses with a follow up theory course and get your
certification completed in one go! We aim to ensure effective learning
with maximum enjoyment, after all, that's why most people get into
boating in the first place!
International Certificate of Competence
(ICC)
The ICC is a legal requirement for UK boaters who
wish to skipper their British Registered motor cruisers abroad.
It consists of a formal assessment by one of our instructors to
ensure that applicants reach the minimum standard required. For
those with little or no experience of boating, we recommend a minimum
3 day course which covers all the requirements of the certificate
and includes the assessment itself. For those with previous experience
of boating who feel that they already have the necessary skills
and knowledge, we can offer a one day refresher and assessment.
If you are unsure which course would suit your needs, please discuss
it with us at the time of booking. It is worth considering that
the ICC assessment is included within the Day Skipper Practical
Course. For those wishing to progress through the RYA Motor Cruising
Scheme, this may be a more cost effective and comprehensive approach
to obtaining the certificate.
